God Or Julie – What Doesn’t Kill You – Review

What Doesn’t Kill You
by Scott Hefflon

Evidently, no member of the band sings about either God or their wife Julie, their friend does, and I guess the friend went with a better band name. These Brooklyn by way of Colorado popsters can play and sing and write moving songs. While not every one is a gem, almost all will play all the way through without your reaching for the remote. The indie pop is worthy of Vagrant Records bands, and they’re blessed with a fine singer who can sweep into falsetto without sounding like a fag or a 12 year old Drive-Thru singer. Not as strong as Muse or Foo Fighters, but those bands rule, and this band is brand new. Get ’em on the mp3 CD, let ’em show what they’ve got, and recommend a name change asap.
