The Quireboys – Well Oiled – Review May 12, 2005 Formerly the London Quireboys. They were bluesy, kinda like Cinderella, who were a lot better than their fashion sense. Singer sounded like Rod Stewart.
The Alter Boys – The Exotic Sounds of – Review May 12, 2005 An experimental side-project of bands who were lucky they got away with it the first time. Mushroomhead and CKY are not known for being cerebral.
Superkollider – Atomic Clock – Review May 12, 2005 Boston groove/rampage metal. These guys’d probably kill live, on CD they’re a little generic sounding. Second CD, first on Wonderdrug in 2001.
Stamen and Pistils – End of the Sweet Parade – Review May 12, 2005 Debut EP. Acoustic-based lo-fi pop songs, accompanied by electronic noise.
Quell – One Man’s Struggle with the English Language – Review May 12, 2005 Quell is like falling down a flight of stairs. Dizzy, panicky, sometimes painful, but it takes you somewhere.
Pistola – Hold for Bliss – Review May 12, 2005 Debut from a NYC brooding rock band into Tool. With a female singer. Pretty strong, but need to find themselves.
Over Mars – Affliction, Endocrine, Vertigo – Review May 12, 2005 Sparse, dark, piano tinkling and a guitar noodle that creeps in periphery. The droning thunder is front-loaded, so you can chill by CD’s end.
Kayser – Kayserhof – Review May 12, 2005 From Sweden, debut, all-star line-up. Members of The Defaced, The Mushroom River Band, and fronted by Spice of Spiritual Beggars.
Gods – I See You Through Glass – Review May 12, 2005 Trendy nü melodic metal, but with a couple members of Zao, who were always better and smarter than their metalcore brethren.
