Heart Attack (A-F)
by Ewan Wadharmi

Remember the music MTV used to play during the breaks in the late ’80s, early ’90s? That’s The Vacancy that Heart Attack fills, that gap between the real bands. In fact, you’ll hear that very riff ringing your candy brain around your paper machete skull all throughout the record. It’s volumatic pop music with unisonic vocals that war between ’70s CBGB street punk and ’80s OC skate punk. The only way to win this war is not to play. How about a nice game of chess? Harmonies and failed attempts at them are dipthonged and pulled into an apathetic mass. Street dude singer does a better job on his turn than surf dude singer, but it’s actually the same dude, adding even more schizophrenia to the mix. Uninventive Batman tunes and uninspired playing guarantee that there are ten bands more talented in various garages within a six-block radius of your house. Why not go find one of them?
