Shedding another layer of skin to unleash the next development in Dismantled, Gary Zon releases the teaser EP, Breed to Death, for a taste of what to expect for the next album. Going from post-apocalyptic to teen-ridden angst, we are now at the club-friendly phase.

“Breed to Death” is a very retro-styled club track, with very tiny hints of Nine Inch Nails’ “Sin” in the song, but with the opposite message: “Fuck you, I don’t give a shit, go Breed to Death.” The song also gets remix treatment from Metropolis labelmates :Wumpscut:, Haujobb, and Psyclon Nine. The :Wumpscut: remix is mutated into an epic and slow-building overture, whereas Psyclon Nine takes the song and destroys it, adding their style and backing vocals from lead singer Marshall Carnage.

From 2002’s Post-Nuclear, “The Swarm” is extracted and given a new lease on life. While this is a Haujobb remix, it sounds more like Daniel Myer’s experimental side-project, Architect. Lastly, the final gem to this EP is the bizarre cover of Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up.” This is sure to be the year’s biggest guilty pleasure, because it’s very wrong to enjoy this.
