The Domes of Silence
Mescaline (Shifty Disco)
by Dan Bernal
Spooky, ‘verbed-out production over psychedelic surf rock give this record a sort of Munsters-at-the-beach feel. The vocals stick to a low monotone, with frequently obscure lyrics which come across more about vibe than lyrical content. A little bit of House of The Rising Sun, a little Doors, a lotta bong hits… When you’re driving along the coast, too high to change the CD, this rambling roadhouse rock will creep you out nicely. Props for the Get Smart reference in their name.
