Anathema – Hindsight – Review

Hindsight (Peaceville)

Acoustic takes on old and new faves from this influencial UK atmospheric, melodic metal band, plus a newbie, “Unchained (Tales of the Unexpected).” Always respected this band’s pushing limits, even when I didn’t initially like the result. Some bands earn your trust, and you endure your first-impulse rejection of the new experiment/influence and slowly its worth becomes clear. Anathema has done that too me repeatedly. Honestly, I’ve grown to like the sparse, delicate, often trippy electronic-based beauty of “side project” Antimatter even more than the pioneering Anathema.
