Toadies Return in 2011

The Sword and UME confirmed to play!
Record Store Day Instore and Exclusive 7″
New Tour Dates Announced.

Toadies start 2011 off with a bang announcing some big plans to continue to deliver their special brand of Texas flavored Rock n’ Roll. On April 16, the band will play a free show in Austin, TX at Waterloo Records’ parking lot to commemorate Record Store Day.  Toadies  will also release  an exclusive Record Store Day 7″ featuring ‘No Deliverance’ and a cover of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Someone Great.’ Both of the tracks were recorded live acoustic from last years Dia De Los Toadies.

Toadies have also just confirmed details of 2011’s Dia De Los Toadies. Dubbed “Willie’s Picnic for a New Generation” by the Austin Chronicle, this years’ Dia will return for the second year in a row to Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, TX. The festival started off in 2008 at Possum Kingdom Lake and has been growing with attendance reaching over 5,000 each year. First confirmed acts are The Sword and UME with more to be announced.

Guitarist Clark Vogeler had this to say about last year’s event:

“The Dia festival keeps getting better every year.  Last year’s festival was without doubt the best weekend of the year.  It always feels like a big family reunion with a great soundtrack. We had  planned to keep moving the festival every year, but the location at White Water in New Braunfels seems like it was designed specifically for this festival. Multiple stages, lots of shade, and the ever-flowing Guadalupe River there to cool us all down whenever we want.

I especially dig the eclectic nature of the lineup. Each of us in the band picks bands that we want to share with our fans, and each other.  I love that you can hear some quiet acoustic stuff, some country-ish honkey-tonk stuff, and of course, lots of Texas rock and roll.”  All support bands are Texas based and include such diverse greats as The Secret Machines, Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears, The Heartless Bastards, Ben Kweller, Two Tons of Steel, Bowling for Soup, Centro-matic,  and Jim Ward’s Sleepercar. This year’s line up will be announced soon.

Toadies will also play a handful of dates before heading into the studio to record the follow up to 2010’s Feeler, the record that saw the light of day 13 years after Interscope Records shelved it. The album was a professional as well as personal triumph for the band, heralded with critical acclaim. Spin Magazine wrote of the record: “No one does sinister arena rock better.”  2011 will also see the release of a new studio record followed by a release of all acoustic material. A Toadies Tribute record is also in the works.

The clip features the track Tyler from the first night of the festival, which was the first time the band ever did an all acoustic set. Clark Vogeler, who in his off time from The Toadies, works as an Emmy Award winning editor, produced and edited the video. He most recently worked on Bombay Beach, a documentary that just premiered at The Berlin Film Festival.
