Freshly-shaved Hayseed Dixie frontman John Wheeler (aka Barley Scotch) releases his debut solo outing, offering a couple covers (Paul Weller’s “Eton Rifles” and Bob Dylan’s “Masters Of War”) and 10 originals. Closing number “Walk Between the Raindrops” combines fiddle and piano in a bluegrass style with Randy Newman vocals to form a breezy, finger-snappy tune that’ll get the cookout crowd smiling and perhaps even dancing along, if enough alcohol has been consumed.
