20 years in, and these Finns are still bringing the fret-melting melodic death metal. I always liked the glammified/rockified sounds they used to spice up their traditional death metal approach on 2005’s Are You Dead Yet?, but apparently most fans felt the exact opposite, so the two successive COB albums dialed up the brutality. That trend continues on Halo of Blood, and it’s so teeth-gnashingly aggressive that you can consider me convinced that it was the right approach. Strap yourself in for the last 30 seconds of the title track.
