Okay, so Expected Highs sound like the Jesus and Mary Chain with a little organ thrown in. Who doesn’t once in awhile? Victor Thompson is using the Expected Highs moniker. He was the lead singer of the Flavor Channel, which released one album in the ’90s. Never heard of him? Me neither. Based in New York City, it turns out the guy who looks like Tim in accounting can indeed ride the wave of fuzz in Kill Surf City on “They Gave Me Pills.” It’s catchy as hell. Derivative? We’ve already had that discussion. Listen in, it’s nice.
