Doughnuts – The Age of the Circle – Review September 1, 1995 They’re girls, they’re young, they’re from Sweden, they play hardcore with a very metal influence, and they’re fuckin’ good.
The Dandy Warhols – Dandys Rule OK – Review September 1, 1995 The Dandys grab pop culture by the love handles and reflect it back through a kaleidoscope.
Doobious Leghorn – Imps’ Tales – Review September 1, 1995 One part James Brown, two parts Bosstones, one part Santana, one groovy saxophone player. Shake. Stir. Add herb to taste and serve chill.
Testament – Live At The Fillmore – Review September 1, 1995 While their newer material hasn’t struck my fancy, this live album has all my faves from each album. Produced raw and crunchy.
Diesel Meat – Alone – Review September 1, 1995 Not bad for a tape with a hand-written cover. Minor keys, distorted guitars, solid bass. The vocals should be a little more prominent in the mix.
Dead Fucking Last – Proud To Be – Review September 1, 1995 They’re old school punk/hardcore with blitzcore energy and humor. Sometimes they suck big donkey dick. Produced (kinda) by Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys,
Bëowülf – with Forty, Fifty Lashes at the Rat – Review September 1, 1995 Dale Henderson is a fucking madman with a white Stratocaster. Go see Bëowülf for a kick in the ass and one hardcore lesson in showmanship.
Das Klown – Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha – Review September 1, 1995 A lot like California punk rock, circa 1980, of the fast, snotty, juvenile variety, such as Circle One or the Adolescents.
Over the Edge – Vol. II – Review September 1, 1995 While this compilation doesn’t match up to the first one, Vol. II does have some good songs on it. A good hardcore compilation to pick up.
Crown Roast – “George” – Review September 1, 1995 Really ugly, belligerent sludge rock. This is the type of thing that your square friends can’t understand how anyone could enjoy listening to.
