Sons of John Glenn – “Smiley” – Review June 1, 1995 Power pop. Catchy and fun in a non-descript way. They’re fun when the song’s not radio friendly.
Supergrass – I Should Coco – Review June 1, 1995 British power pop punk “oh-ahs” and quotable catch phrases abound. So catchy it’s kitchy. That surf-style keyboard is so playpen fun it’s driving me bonkers.
Smooth Bamboo – Review June 1, 1995 More power pop from MA. Doesn’t offend my sensibilities, I could listen to this in my car, if my dashboard had a turntable.
Stuntman – “Robert Marshall Long” / “Car Crash” – Review June 1, 1995 Ex-members of Seattle’s Treepeople. Their appeal is similar to that of the Archers of Loaf for command over quirky indie noise meets pop punk.
Slump – Review June 1, 1995 Alright, let’s rock! Catchy choruses, and good grooves, I hope I can catch them live with a six pack.
Stiffs, Inc. – Nix Nought Nothing – Review June 1, 1995 Some very up-tempo pop punk. It’s catchy. I don’t want to think that it’s a recording for people who dig Green Day, but it’s kinda hard not to.
Smoking Popes – Born to Quit – Review June 1, 1995 They have elements of Ramones and ’50s-style rock mixed amongst the pop love songs. Very Morrissey vocals on top of simple catchy pop rock.
Silverchair – Frogstone – Records June 1, 1995 If I didn’t know Silverchair came from Australia in 1995, I would swear they were Seattle circa 1990. Sounds like Pearl Chains Alice Jam.
Shank 456 – The Big Payback – Review June 1, 1995 Hardcore metal from a band that has stomp and speedcore in it’s past. Dead end jobs are prison. Let’s slam.
Season To Risk – In A Perfect World – Review June 1, 1995 The vocalist sings through an amped-up bull cone. They’ve opened up for Prong, Pain Teens, and Unsane. They’ve got a lot to live up to. They deliver.
