Scatterfield – When You Were Here – Review May 1, 1995 While twangy vocals are not my fave, this REM-clone has a sizable Boston following. Rich production and good songcraft. It’s just been done many times before.
Satchel – EDC – Review May 1, 1995 The majority of this album is Seattle groove rock reduced to its most dull denominator.
PJ Harvey – To Bring You My Love – Review May 1, 1995 To Bring You My Love has a less noisy, more accessible feel than the previous three albums, but her attitude is, if anything, more caustic than ever.
Pet UFO – My Name is Esther Cohen – Review May 1, 1995 A constant motormouth of distorted guitars and Souci Broskowitz’s hurt/pissed-off vocals make Pet UFO one of my personal favorites.
Pell Mell – Interstate – Review May 1, 1995 This instrumental collection moodily shifts from one focus to another as effortlessly as clouds drift across a brilliant blue sky.
Motherless Children – Review May 1, 1995 One of the best drawing bands from the Lowell area. Energetic and well-crafted rock songs with good lyrics and catchy melodies.
Morning Glories – Fully Loaded – Review May 1, 1995 This is what you listen to while you trash your room.
Moonpools and Caterpillars – Lucky Dumpling – Review May 1, 1995 Not surprisingly, this is cute pop with a female singer. Kinda dippy, kinda trippy, infectiously energetic.
Monkey Tail – Review May 1, 1995 Shouting local rock with too much bass. I think I like this. Sarcastic and abrasive with no song titles. The Europe trading card was a nice touch.
Misery Loves Co. – Review May 1, 1995 The crushing riffs, mechanized drums, cruel rhythms and agonized vox are all there, but MLC can tone it down with smooth and sorrowful vocals.
