I regret deeply that I spent part of my precious weekend listening to this piss-poor collecion of ultra-sappy sensitive singer-songwriter country-folk crap.
One could categorize Home from the bands they’ve toured with – Sebadoh, Yo La Tengo, and Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 – but Home stand on their own.
One second it’s punky, driving pop, the next it’s noisy pop with dark lyrics, then jangly pop with insightfully inane lyrics. Everything they do, they do well.
What shines out on this one is “Drop of Water,” a swamp rock fuzzy-voiced bit of LSD-soaked country twiddlings. I’d buy an entire CD of songs like that.
