Helium was the buzz band of the night. Guitarist Mary Timony, dolled up in silver sequined skirt and pink leotards, was the undisputed queen of this rock prom.
Another female-fueled outfit, Dirt Merchants, continued the loud theme at Pearl Street, adding some brooding vocals by singer/guitarist Maria Christopher.
“Pat’s Trick” is a chunk of bass and vacant vocals that builds into a singable noise-pop tune. “Ghost Car” gives me shivers. A hauntingly beautiful song.
