I’ve only heard of three of 23 bands, and those are the ones from the U.S. Lots are from Belgium. Bad Casio-petting electropoop, like a bad open mic night.
I sometimes kinda like Huntingtons, but when their not-best-work is placed next to the modern-day equivalent of the Violent Femmes, they suffer in comparison.
Original, well-crafted (instrumentally and vocally) fast music from the likes of Dogwood, Shorthanded, and Craig’s Brother make pop-punk as enriching as ever.
Reminding us how easy it is to write halfway decent Ramones-inspired songs, Huntingtons do a good job at being thoroughly enjoyable, yet utter unmemorable.
This 20-track Ramones tribute is surprisingly non-annoying, seeing as not only do they get the notes right, they get the sound and much of the spirit right.
