Animals Factories – Review

Animals Factories

by Jim Mason & Peter Singer (Harmony Books)
by Aaron Dalbec

A red hot metal blade melts through the beak of a baby chick to prevent the pecking of other chicks. June 1973, thirty thousand cattle, two million chickens, and thousands of sheep and pigs die, as a result of a “accidental” dropping of a cancer causing drug, polybrominated biphenyls, into their feed. These are just some of the millions of incidents that happen in the animal factory industry. This book opened my eyes to a lot of the inhumane things that happen to the animals some love to call food. Hopefully, if you read this book it will open up your eyes to all these things.

Between 8-12 chickens are kept in a one square foot cage. Inside this book, you will find many of these horrifying facts. This book is written by Peter Singer, and Jim Mason. Peter Singer also has many other books available such as Animal Liberation and In Defense of Animals. This book will make you see through the eyes of the suffering animals, and make you change your views of factory farming. The point of this book is not to make you hate all farming, but to help make people eliminate factory farms. They are not only non-human, they are inhumane!
