Blau Zur
Pink Pet Eraser (unsigned)
by Lex Marburger
The guys in Blau Zür try so hard. On Pink Pet Eraser you can hear their pleading on every track, the tone of anguish in every word, the desperation of every distorted guitar string, the plea in every popped bass note. “Please,” they cry, “please, Mr. A&R man from the major label, sign us, sign us!” Now, I don’t have anything against popularity; a band hasn’t “sold out” because a lot of people like them. However, if I wanted to hear another J. Mascis guitar solo, I’d put on “You’re Living All Over Me.” Still, there are good points to this CD. Blau Zür has control of the emotional chords and progressions, and their live show would probably be kickin’ with a few illicit chemicals.
