The huge and angry voice of singer Sam Ireland provides the melodic spearhead for what drives these tracks, namely bassist Debbie Quargnolo’s pounding low end. The furious power-chord guitar barely manages to sound in tune on songs like “Saturation” and “Disease or Accident.” Don’t get me wrong, this low regard for instrumental convention is an asset here. Like the rest of Die Cheerleader, Rita Blazyca’s sound is teetering out on the edge of musicality and peering into the abyss of primal noise.
