The Pods – Where I’m Calling From – Review

The Pods

Where I’m Calling From
by Andrew Berenson

The Pods have arrived and what an arrival they have made! Fronted by ex-Lemonhead Ben Deily, this three-piece kept the pop sensibility that made the Lemonheads famous. Along with buddies Junno (drums) and Josh (bass), the Pods come up with songs that are soothing yet melodic. Deily certainly has grown in songwriting. These songs flow beautifully and show he has an outstanding voice capable of fronting a talented band. The other members sing on a couple of the songs so it shows that they are heavily contributing in the band’s songwriting process. Besides creating a fabulous album, the Pods are very smooth live. I witnessed one of their shows last year, and they definitely got the crowd going. They reminded me of the Beatles live because they have that same pop greatness, but they can still rock-out with the best of them. They took time after the show to talk to their fans. Buy their debut album, and definitely catch these guys live.
