Twisted Roots – Communication – Review

Twisted Roots

Communication (Cherrydisc)
by Jen Beatty

Maine’s Twisted Roots are back. Their follow-up to Turn to Stone is dubbed Communication. This quartet puts forth a traditional beer bar sound. Most tracks strain for your attention, while only the ballad “Blueface” had me reaching for the volume knob. The guitaring and vocals of frontman Pete Giordano are strong, as heard on the opening song “Gimme Something,” but the true talent of the group lies with the back-up singer Neil Collins.

They follow a standard hard rock formula that is transferable from song to song and band to band, yet Twisted Roots are not out to rip-off other rock bands. They simply use what works for them.
