Tongue Lash

I came in as Tongue Lash played “Peace Dog” by the Cult. That about summed it up. This is either a solid rock ‘n’ roll cover band, or might as well be. I couldn’t tell if the other songs were covers and I just didn’t recognize them, or if they were “originals.” Politely, this is what’s called “an instantly recognizable style.” Sure, they’re good musicians and have that ripped jeans, shaggy-headed ’80s rock look, but that doesn’t mean they can write songs. The word “original” cannot be used here, except in quotations, if you know what I mean. A solid rock cover band with stage presense.

Moodcrush, on the other hand, do it well. Maybe they just have a more distinct style or a wider range of influences to draw from, who knows? Even if they were to do covers, they would personalize them and make them their own. I’m biased, I like them. So sue me.
