The first band was someone whose name I don’t want to remember. If you must form a band with your high school buddies, keep it in the garage. Combine got me into the show. Not bad, but they try too hard to be complex; too many time changes and not enough riffs. Swank has been getting a lot of press lately. Maybe I’m tired of power trios, or maybe I’m suspicious of bands who write letters to ‘zines complaining of sexism and then make jokes about their hairdressers on stage. They failed to impress. I had to leave before the Heretix, being too drunk for a funeral.
