Grinch – Eden – Review

Grinch

Eden (Desperate Attempt)
by Chaz Thorndike

Glimmers of true genius surface in the troughs of mediocrity. Soul-tearing lyrics, speaking volumes of torment, confusion and hate in simple, everyday terms. Muddy, tired, and horridly produced instruments with a vocal mix a 4-track novice could top. When the vocals step out of the throaty any-note-will-do approach, the melodies are haunting and gorgeously ugly. The vocal emotion and Sabbath-esque powerdrumming almost save this, but the muck consumes it. There is a difference between sounding like sludge and sounding like shit.
