Spacemen 3 – Singles – Review

Spacemen 3

Singles (Taang!)
by Lex Marburger

2:3 …And so it was that the lord of trances and chemicals (I’m not talking about Warhol) created the Velvet Underground. And the Velvet Underground begot Spacemen 3. And Spacemen 3 begot Spiritualized. And the music was good. Forsooth! Forget not your history, my children. Let the one chord bliss of Singles (Taang!) wash your feet as you turn and become cheeky. Allow the glorious feedback of Sonic Boom to caress thine skin and alter thine eyes as the stumbling auditory brook splashes you to open the nictating membrane in thine skull to see clearly and understand the secrets of Now.

4:13 …And you shall find three auditory scrolls upon Singles. “Walkin’ With Jesus,” “Transparent Radiation,” and “Take Me to the Other Side,” all of which are good and right, and shall move thou to the utmost, and it shall smote thine with a divine grace, and shall lift thine up to a holy bliss and state of pleasure and rapture. Wheels within wheels shall circle and hum, a single note to transport thee to thyself, and all things inside. Let thyself turn inside out, exposing thine own person to the glorious stars and the brilliant light they shine upon the chosen ones who can do nothing but gaze slack-jawed at the ultimate spectacle that arises before them. Let others tell you not that Spacemen 3 are a clan of graceless spirits. To thine own self be indignant, and smite them for the Omniscient one who, in his sight, knows they’re talking shit.
