By-the-(fake)-book powerpop with appealing harmonies and a touch of paisley. Braintree is a fine throwback to both the short-lived early-’80s hard pop revival and the even shorter-lived mid-’80s lysergic resurgence. So I guess that makes it ’90s nostalgia for ’80s nostalgia for the ’60s. Gad, this cultural recycling business can get confusing.
