Buck O Nine – Barfly – Review

Buck O Nine

Barfly (Taang!)
by Scott Hefflon

Being from Boston, I liken this band to M.M. BossTones without the lawnmower-in-a-gravel-pit vocals. That however, would be selling short a ska/punk band with true identity and seamless crossovers. They get sassy and brassy with the bad-ass horns, but they also rip out some roaring guitar work. Some fun, interpretive covers of Op. Ivy, Misfits, Musical Youth, and the Clash keep the energy level high and the genres interchangeable. Taang! started the BossTones in Boston and can hopefully do the same with Buck O Nine in San Diego.
