Dismember – Massive Killing Capacity – Review

Dismember

Massive Killing Capacity (Relapse)
by Tim Creter

Fans of Entombed, please take note – the producer of Wolverine Blues has produced Massive Killing Capacity, and boy does it show. When I first put the disc on, I thought I was listening to Entombed: Same guitar sound, same drum sound, even the vocals sound the same. But… Dismember are able to show their originality. This is a great album, conceptually speaking, and musically too. It has a running theme of war and its destruction of the human mind and life. Screams from the trenches, the sight of blood, machines chugging, fear clawing at your forehead; it all comes into play in Massive Killing Capacity. If you think Metallica’s “One” is the best song about war, take a listen to the lyrics of “I Saw Them Die” or “Casket Garden” and you’ll be shivering. This is not music for the weak-hearted. Dismember play with precision, aggression, and razor sharp riffs. Hardened ’80s metalheads, death dudes of today, or anyone still into the very alive scene of metal, do yourself a favor and get this one.
