In the world of ska/punk crossovers, Buck-O-Nine are probably my favorite. The Bosstones take themselves way too seriously and lack the madness that made them great. And there isn’t a ska band in the land that can write memorable choruses like The Specials did. If there is to be a savior, it might just be Buck-O-Nine. Their blending of quick tempo, classic horn arrangements, clean-to-ugly guitar sounds, and fun topics put them in a league above the rest. Pairing up with Agent Orange for “Miserlou” makes for a surf/ska instrumental to be enjoyed for years to come.
