Frankenstein – Eve of the Dead Boys – Review

Frankenstein

Eve of the Dead Boys (Hell Yeah!)
by Scott Hefflon

This glorious slab of forgotten, noisy trash is the three-song demo recorded two years before the Dead Boys recorded Young Loud and Snotty (Sire) in 1977. All three songs are on the full-length, but these versions are slower, sloppier, and produced much worse. Also recommended is Younger, Louder, and Snottier (Necro), a French import “mixed down” from a decade-old cassette vocalist Stiv Bators found, recorded over The Who’s Quadrophenia. It has all that great hiss and wave effect of beaten-to-shit tapes.
