Integrity – Humanity Is The Devil – Review

Humanity Is The Devil (Victory)
by Tim Creter

So, what has Integrity been doing since their last album? Oh, the usual: Practicing, changing drummers, playing shows, and conceptualizing the divine destruction of humankind. Slow down, you say? Well, this new album is one of those concept thingies bands like to do. But boy, this one is scary. With the release of Humanity is the Devil, the band has embarked on a new movement in hardcore: Holy Terrorism. They have been inspired to tell the tale of the Final Judgment of humanity, of how the final days are at hand. The five “real” songs of the eight tracks follow the prophecy of the world’s demise based on the beliefs of the Church of the Final Judgment. First the decay of humanity is presented, then the beginning of the process of destruction, the demons overpowering us, the “Abraxas Annihilation,” and the aftermath of our failed existence. Musically, the band hasn’t changed: raw, straight-ahead style with caustic vocals. But this album, conceptually speaking, is different from anything they’ve ever done, or anyone else has for that matter. I could go on, as there are many things here open to interpretation, but you’ll just have to get this frightening masterpiece to experience it for yourself. If you dare.
