Rubbing Doesn’t Help (Priority)
by Sheril Stanford

Rubbing Doesn’t Help gives you 13 edgy pop tunes filled with driving bass, crunchy, raspy guitars, and jittery lyrics. Luminous lead vocals skim over the top of everything else. One choice nugget is “Open The Door,” which kicks off with a sparse bass line, high-hats, and wistful lyrics. Another nifty cut is “Juicy Fruit,” with a lone but busy bass line and simple drum beat, alternating with crispy guitar, and the lyrics, “Sometimes I’m so stuck and I’m never helpless/And I can hear you ’cause you are like me/We are the insects.” Hmm… A theft of Beck’s “How You Like Me Now?” intros the next track – you’ll like ’em jest fine.
