Kostars are Jill and Viv from Luscious Jackson. Klassics with a K expounds on the theme started by LJ’s signature “Lover of a Life of Leisure.” That’s to say it’s chock full of back porch-sittin’, pink lemonade-guzzlin’, fly-swattin’, horse-trottin’, acoustic country ballads with strange rhythmic trip-hop noises to remind us that it’s the ’90s. Jill and Viv’s lyrics are ripe with understated humor and heart (“The ladies at the hair salon, they can’t keep from goin’ on about her ways” and “I thought that I could find another fella, but all I want to see is your red umbrella”).
