Bison – Space Evader – Review

Bison

Space Evader (Cosmic)
by Sheril Stanford

There’s not one thing about this band that doesn’t exude pure power. Potent, raspy vocals by Ben Averch. Guitars that pulverize, atomize, crystallize, granulate. Lead guitar lines fracturing away from powerchord backgrounds. Soaring harmonies. Bison digs deep into the well of ’70s style anthemic rock, their two most hard-hitting qualities being a blinding barrage of sweeping guitar riffs and vocal sonic attacks. The sound is sleek, and it’s packed with detail and dynamic shifts. The lyrical content reflects the force and sweeping nature of the music. Bison covers the sun “a million miles away,” love, “outcast, shot into orbit,” the sky “opening up,” whirlpools, columns of fire, and all the wonders of the Earth. This is a band that thinks big. They talk the talk AND walk the walk.
