Even with Lucian Casselman’s soaring soprano voice, Remnants of a Deeper Purity is hardly to be considered “Ethereal Goth.” The music is far too grounded.
A compilation of 7″s and 12″s. The result is an encapsulated look at a band that lived an hour away from Nation of Ulysses, Rites Of Spring, and Fugazi.
A few beats too many, making them stagger like a guy wearing two different shoes, and the guitars play notes that sound uncomfortable next to each other.
Points for being a bona-fide ‘zine (the type is tiny, the layout ugly, the resolution of photos poor, the “writing” I’m-so-cool-I-don’t-like-anything).
