88 Fingers Louie – The Dom Years – Review

88 Fingers Louie

The Dom Years (Fat)
by Scott Hefflon

88 Fingers Louie took the gritty road when everyone else crowded the polished-to-perfection superhighway to instant success and subsequent has-beendom. Sure, they sounded almost identical to every other caffeinated punkpop band of the early ’90s, but 88 Fingers Louie sounded rawer and had hoarser vocals. That subtlety is sometimes all it takes. With authentically shitty-looking graphics, honest production by Mass Giorgini, a cover of the Beatles’ “Help,” and a bunch of other songs you may already have if you collect 7″s, The Dom Years is a classy going-away present.
