88 Fingers Louie – 88 Fingers Up Your Ass – Review

88 Fingers Louie

88 Fingers Up Your Ass (Hopeless)
by Chaz Thorndike

What a great album title! Especially with death metal songs like “Irreparable Damage” and a few metal solos, this is an album to get, even if you’re not a collector of anything and everything melodic hardcore punks 88 Fingers Louie released. While this is either the second or third “last” album 88 has done, there’s a lot of material that “needs” to be released before the job is done. Many tracks remind you of why you liked ’em in the first place, others make you realize they had lots more to offer than they’ve recently shown, while still others, like “In Your Eyes,” “Victim In Pain,” “Not Just My Head,” “My Father’s Dreams,” and “All I Want For Christmas,” are just cool to have. In theory, none of the 27 tracks here have ever been released on CD, and that alone saves ya’ll the trouble of tracking down the assorted 7, 10, and 12″s these gems were originally recorded on. Additional bonuses include some European live tracks and a cool photo of the band with ex-drummer Dom superimposed in front of the van.
