The Dandy Warhols – Come Down – Interview

The Dandy Warhols

Come Down (Capitol)
An interview with Courtney Taylor
by Lex Marburger

(The publicist set this up at 10:00 am on a Tuesday. Yeah, right. )

What’s happenin’?
I was sleepin’, kinda drunk, y’know…

I feel like shit myself. What are you drinkin’?
Whiskey and soda…

I was out drinking pints until about 3 in the morning. Is that whiskey coming out of your label money?
Right… (pause)

Wow, you’re really out of it, huh?
Yeah, I really am. I didn’t realize I was doing an interview today…(a passing truck obliterates the rest of his admittedly mumbled response)

Is “Minnasoter” a Neil Young take-off, much like “Lou Weed” was on your Dandy’s Rule, OK? album?
Yeah, you gotta have one Neil Young… “Good Morning” is kinda like Lloyd Cole, too… (pause)

So… Your single is “Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth.”
That was about an ex-girlfriend.

Yeah?
Yeah.

How have you been holding up on the road?
Pretty great. I’m kinda tired now, but pretty great…

Well, I guess I’ll let you get some sleep.
Thanks. Sorry about being like this. I like your magazine a lot…
