Snuka – Snuka Bloody Snuka – Review

Snuka

Snuka Bloody Snuka (Double Deuce)
by Scott Hefflon

It’s ’bout time Snuka released something on par with their ability. I hated (and took shit for hating) their last coupla comp tracks (Spandex Experiment and Punk Dwellings) ’cause the band was far better than those tracks showed. But now, with the right-fuckin’-on title and cover concept of Snuka Bloody Snuka, Snuka finally does what they do best – rawk. Opening with the straight-ahead rumble of thick bass, pounding drums, and AC/DC-ain’t-got-shit-on-me guitar of “Dead Drunk” and “I Owe You,” Snuka establish the simple fact that New York can still make a mean fuckin’ rock band. And breasty vocalist Chloe Sweeney (stripper by day, rawk goddess by night if the stories are to be believed) stomps and slithers all over the songs like bitch-in-a-bad-mood, spitting venom on everything and everything she comes into contact with. But it’s guitarist, Suke, that stands out like never before. He can rip like Thunder, and chug with the best of the dirty dozen. While not as stylistically sloppy as Slash, Suke is a guitar hero for future generations. Pure rawk.
