The Simpsons – Songs in the Key of Springfield – Review

The Simpsons

Songs in the Key of Springfield (Rhino)

Usually whenever something good comes along, it’s exploited to the point that it becomes detested. Conversely, The Simpsons, one of the most popular animated series of this decade, has not fallen into the crevice of uncool. On their new CD, the 55 minutes of music is stitched together with bits of sampled dialogue from the show. Not only are the sound bytes hilarious, but so are the tunes. Everything from Reverend Lovejoy’s organ driven rendition of “In-a-gadda-da-vida,” Tito Puente’s infectious salsa about “Señor Burns,” and the Kwik-E-Mart epic, to the “Itchy & Scratchy” theme are featured; prime material.
