Error Type 11 – Review

Error Type 11

(Some)
by Celine Hania

Since a bio didn’t come with the record, all I know about Error Type 11 is that they’re good. And that’s all that really matters. It takes a few listens to appreciate their self-titled debut, but once you get into it, it’ll stay in your player for a while. As a matter of fact, this morning I woke up singing, “Take a Bow.” It sounds kinda like hard indie rock. The drums pound at the steady beat; and when the guitars switch into a slower melodic chorus, the drums follow in a wave of rhythmic hits. This three minute song jumps back and forth between these two changes so well that you wish this tune were longer. “Better Days” is the best song on the LP. It starts right into it, then pulls back, leaving only some grunge guitars and the singer’s voice screeching over them. This song too goes back and forth, an excellent diversity of rhythms, hard hits and soft whispers (though not that gentle) and passionate wails.
