Fretblanket display their keen knack for catchy and tuneful melodies accompanied by versatile guitar, ranging from driving power chords to more delicate intricacies. “Into the Ocean,” the opening track, is like Bush with a pop make-over and a yen for taking themselves far less seriously. Home Truths From Abroad is swimming with cool boy harmonies that complement the songwriting “like buttah,” bringing about the requisite pop euphoria. A British pop band without pretension, their sophomore displays solid lyrics, memorable hooks, and melodic strength. The most sincere band to be sent across the pond in a while.
