Trip Daddys – To Hell and Back in a Cadillac – Review

Trip Daddys

To Hell and Back in a Cadillac (Rooster Lollipop)
by Jon Sarre

Sometimes I’m more taken with what people put in their bios than what they put on their records. Take, for example, the Trip Daddys, who have “been entertained by the attempts of others to label their style. The “Ted Nugent of Rockabilly” and “Death Rockabilly” are some of the more amusing efforts. Just for amusement’s sake (no wagering, please), I’d like to add my own humble suggestions:

      • 1) “The Worst Spellers Since the (Canadian) Godz Who Were the Worst Spellers Since Slade”
      • 2) “The Only Band Who’s Ever Played Eddie Cochran’s Songs Worse Than Sid Vicious”
      • 3) “The Reverend Horton Heat in a Dress”
      • 4) “Hey, Hey, Just Go (Daddys-O)”
    5) “Yet Another Reason Carl Perkins is Glad to be Dead”

I mean, even if ya bought alla Elvis Hitler’s records and still think ya just can’t get enough, ya probably don’t need to go To Hell and Back in a Cadillac, a Malibu, a Fairlane, a GTO, hell, a Geo, even. Trust me, you obviously haven’t listened to Built For Speed enough times! Besides, they cover “Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats, and if that’s okay by you, then you need help, kid!
