The Figgs – The Figgs Couldn’t Get High – Review

The Figgs

The Figgs Couldn’t Get High (Absolute a Go Go)
by Katy Shea

Garage rock power pop with flashes of testosterone and punk sensibilities. The Figgs would undoubtedly be a cool band to have play at a party in your parent’s basement on Christmas break. Straight-ahead, guitar-oriented, and sufficiently angsty, but never really going the distance. They have energy and seem sincere, but can’t seem to nail the power rock stuff, or really engage on the ballads. In their own words, they just couldn’t get high.
