Pulkas – Greed – Review

Pulkas

Greed (Earache)
by Scott Hefflon

Forty minutes of roarcore from English newcomers Pulkas. With production courtesy of Colin Richardson (Napalm Death, Fear Factory, Machine Head), you know yer gonna get a sonic wallop, and that’s exactly whatcha get. But is Greed good? Well, it’s got the dynamics of soft-spoken verses over an eerie acoustic jangle that leads into the predictably chantable roar chorus, and then it repeats the formula again for the next song. Angry, massive-sounding, and buzzing right along at that mid-tempo pace Machine Head often sets the cruise control at, but this isn’t something I’d tear apart my room to find.
