Wade – Odd Man Out – Review

Wade

Odd Man Out (Interscope)
by Scott Hefflon

Yet another example of a major label taking a perfectly decent band and making them sound like radio fodder. Somewhere in there, you can tell Wade is a good band with a distinctive sound and something fresh to say, but Odd Man Out trims all the edges, leaving only hints of an interesting noise pop band (think Overwhelming Colorfast, perhaps, with hints of Kansas and emo – as if that makes any sense). “The kids” somewhere may think this rocks (if their only choices are this or a radio dial full of Country & Western), but anyone who has access to real indie music will view this as highly polished, but otherwise rather ordinary rock.
