The bio compares these guys to Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, and Madball, which is not too far from the truth. Good or bad, Somewhere… does wear its influences on its sleeve, blending death metal and neo-hardcore (think: chug-chug-chug). However, what those bands have (well, not counting Madball) that Dare To Defy doesn’t, is songwriting. It’s one thing to sound like someone else, it’s another to be as good. Unfortunately, Dare To Defy doesn’t even come close to being on the same level as their influences. Instead, they just sound incredibly desperate to copy their heroes. Time for a new plan, guys.
