Ink & Dagger – The Fine Art of Original Sin – Review

Ink & Dagger

The Fine Art of Original Sin (Initial)
by Tim Den

I’ll quote Paperweight zine in saying this: No one really sounds like Ink And Dagger. Everything about this band, from their face paint schtick to their atonal-but-still-singable guitar licks, seems to hold a sense of originality that escapes most bands. Ink And Dagger defy categorization by playing bluesy crunch one song (“Cut Throat Tactics”) to Gothic female-core the next (“We Live Despite Their Schemes”), never failing to making it back in time for more twisted guitar tornadoes (“Philapsychosis”). This bizarre (and unique) mixture, combined with the vampiric lyrical imagery, really makes listeners turn their heads and recognize the oddities at work here. Good thing for Ink And Dagger, they pull this shit off with style, giving the turned heads enough substance to hold their attention.
