Pinhead Gunpowder – Shoot the Moon – Review

Pinhead Gunpowder

Shoot the Moon (Adeline)
by Scott Hefflon

Never heard of the label, but releasing a seven-song, 12-minute Pinhead Gunpowder EP recorded in Billie’s basement is a good way to introduce yourself. Steering clear of “Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong’s other band” comments, Pinhead Gunpowder has always struck me as the band Billie probably wants to be in. While not at jumpy as Green Day, these guys play real punkpop, without all the posturing, posing, and punk tantrums. This is what it is, no more and no less. While not Billie’s best, Shoot the Moon has moments that coulda been on Kerplunk!.
