Atticus – Dragging the Lake II – Review

Atticus

Dragging the Lake II (Side One Dummy)
by Scott Hefflon

Volume two of the Atticus comp series, released by Atticus clothing (couple members of Blink 182) and Side One Dummy. One of the better comps to hear 26 “who’s who” bands, just in case you have better things to do than try to catch the cool videos on MTV, or the radio stations around you suck. Almost every band here is a “name” band, which means they range from highly-respected to wildly-overrated shit “the kids” seem to like because it’s lowest-common-denominator watered-down knock-off “feel good” music. So check it out, finally hear the bands you’ve heard everyone talk about but never got around to checking out, and continue to spit at the shit bands that, for some reason, are cheered instead of beaten up in the parking lot. Rare and unreleased tracks by Blink 182, Dropkick Murphys, Sparta, Lagwagon, and Finch, as well as the usual goodness/dogshit by Rocket From the Crypt, Hot Water Music, Thrice, Slick Shoes, Dillinger Four, The Suicide Machines, Maxeen, Further Seems Forever, Jets to Brazil, Box Car Racer, Transplants, H2O, Taking Back Sunday, Rise Against, The Mighty Mighty BossTones, Matchbook Romance, Hot Rod Circuit, Down By Law, Over My Dead Body, Bane, and Alkaline Trio.
